New Evisense features for the new school year

We’ve been busy working on further improvements in Evisense. Our latest release is now live including some great new features. Here’s a quick summary of the key changes and the benefits.

Linking evidence to assessments

We are most excited to share the news that Assessment within Evisense is now LIVE!
This means schools can assess in Evisense without needing to open Connecting Steps.

The release includes more than 15 fabulous improvements, based on feedback from users. Whilst some of the changes are significant developments and others are smaller tweaks, they are all aimed at enhancing users’ experience of Evisense. These improvements will help your school to more easily capture and share the progress your pupils make and to simplify your communication with pupils, parents and external professionals.

WHAT’S NEW?

Assessment within Evisense is now LIVE

Schools can now assess in Evisense without needing to open Connecting Steps. Simply create and publish your post, at which point you will be asked ‘Do you want to assess?’ Click ‘Yes’ to assess the achievements linked to the post. It’s as simple as that! All the assessment content in Connecting Steps is accessible via Evisense. You can also see your linked evidence in Connecting Steps. Schools that don’t have our assessment software can still show progress by linking posts to our free assessment content in Evisense. Visit our Support Site to see what content is available and get instructions on how to link your posts and assess in Evisense.

Cross curricular evidence shows in different frameworks

The ‘Linked Assessments’ section on the main feed now shows if evidence has already been added to a particular assessment point on a different framework. This is useful as many of our assessment points feature in more than one framework. It’s particularly helpful when a child moves from one framework to another and users want to see what evidence is already there.

Assign Evisense storage tiers to students

B Squared administrators can now change the Evisense storage level for different students. Instead of all students being fixed with the same amount of storage, schools can allocate Evisense Tiers to their students. This will be more efficient and cost effective, as students with less evidence can be on a lower tier, while students who get lots of evidence added, can be moved to a higher tier. Administrators can view storage usage per Evisense Tier by clicking on your profile picture, then ‘Storage Management’. Schools will be notified if a student’s storage exceeds their quota. Visit our Support Site for instructions on how to assign storage tiers to your students and what to do if you exceed your storage quota. To enquire about costs for your school to adjust students’ storage levels, email our Sales Team on sales@bquared.co.uk.

Other great new features for the new school year include:

  • Upload ‘WiFi only’ in the app – save on mobile data and upload times with this option. When out of WiFi range you can continue to use the app, whilst your uploads simply pause until you are back on WiFi.
  • Trim videos and audio files – trim files within Evisense to focus on key moments and save on storage.
  • Media taken in ‘offline’ mode’ visible in the Evisense gallery – see what media you have taken and what is awaiting upload when working offline.
  • Easier access to camera roll on individual devices – the device gallery is now visible, with instructions for users on how to enable access (via your school system administrator).
  • See who liked a post – gives visibility on which students, parents and staff have seen and liked a post.
  • Notifications activated for users and guardians – choose which notifications to send and set timings e.g. within working hours only.
  • Full Aspect Group Name displayed – in the School Preferences section, simply hover over the Short Aspect Group Name to see the full name for quick and easy reference.
  • Reply to this comment – it’s now easy to distinguish between the ‘Write a comment’ and the newly relabeled ‘Reply to this comment’ boxes when commenting on evidence.
  • Improved comment formatting – comments now word wrap for easy reading, avoiding words being split across multiple lines.
  • Report printing defaults to start of current academic year – using the school’s ‘Start Key Date’ as the default makes it quicker and easier to create reports for the current year.
  • More prominent scroll bar – for quick and easy navigation.

It’s now even easier to get help when you need it
