Questions on radio transmission

What is the radio frequency used?

868Mhz or 915Mhz, depending on the country's regulations.

Is there any risk to health?

The radio transmission is based on Wavenis technology which is widely used throughout medical sector.  The power used is only 25 mW, which is 40 or 50 times below the one of a cell phone, and the transmitter is not placed on the ear like a phone.

What is the distance covered by your radio technology?

About 50 to 100 meters in buildings depending of the construction, and more than 400 m on free field. But it can be much more using repeaters.

Can the radio transmission disturb any equipment?

No, it cannot disturb any equipment complying with the current standards like CE's one for example. Our technology complies with the ISM standard (Industrial Scientific Medical).

Do you have any solution when there is a long distance between the buildings out of the radio cover?

Yes, there is the GPRS solution. In that case there is no need of computer or IP network on the site to be monitored (nb: available soon)

Can you say that your RF technology is secured enough to prevent any violation against external attack of the server?

Nobody can assert that radio solution are 100% secure, which is why we  propose a 2 wire bus solution as an alternative for customers that have some doubts.
We can supply a WHITE PAPER describing our technology in total transparency.

Questions on the transmitters

What is the capacity of the transmitter memory in term of data?
4500 data /transmitter.

Is the power supply needed in any case?
Not in data-logging mode. The power supply is available as an option for a « real time » use and for very sensitive products to be monitored which require a back-up solution. Thousands of dollars-worth of samples can not rely on a simple battery.
It is recommended on the large installations working in real time but it is not an obligation on the small installations working in real time.

Do you propose one or two transmitters to monitor T° and CO2 on CO2 incubator?
Two are needed. We use a CO2 sensor which is able to work at saturated RH level like it is used in a CO2 incubator. This type of sensor requires a good power supply to be able to work properly, which is why we use a dedicated transmitter to monitor CO2.

Can the transmitter be used to repeat the next transmitters?
Yes, each transmitter can repeat the signal of one or more next transmitters.

Question on probes

How do you install the probe in a – 80°C deep freezer?
The cable of the probe cannot go through the door gasket for frost forming reasons. It is then imperative to defrost the freezer to be able to install the probe by using existing access or a technical port. As the metal is dangerously sticky at this temperature, the only way is to stop and defrost the freezer for this operation.

Can we replace the probe only, if defective, without replacing the transmitter?
Yes, it is possible for the digital probes (MD5030, MD5031, MD5075 and MD5076) but not for the PT100 or thermocouple probes. The digital probes are delivered together with a calibration certificate. For the other probes, the transmitter and the probe have to be calibrated together.

What is the accuracy of the probe?
The accuracy is around 0.2°C on the digital probes.

What is the temperature range of the standard probes?
-80°C to +80°C

Questions on calibration

If I want to have my probes recalibrated, do I need to return only the probe only or the probe + the transmitter?
You only need to return the probe if digital

Do you loan a probe during the calibration?
We provide a standard exchange

What is the periodicity of the calibration?
This is the user’s decision (Depending of the use conditions) but it is generally every 12 months.

Questions on alarm transfer

Can I transfer the alarm?
Yes, all software versions can transfer alarm by Widget (RSS flow) or by activating a dry contact on a transmitter that can be connected to a siren or a phone transducer.
On the PRO and ELIT versions, the alarms can be transferred on any media (Fax, email, SMS, phone) if using the Alert Manager module (optional).

How does it work?
Alarms are transferred on selected media for the channels that have been set for alarm transfer. A message is sent (written or vocal) saying the software's presets. The message can tell which channel is on alarm, the type of the alarm, the most critical value, the person on duty, the set point,…depending of the setting made by the user. Vocal messages are played by a speech synthesizer.

How are the duties managed by the software?
Duties are managed by using presets (ex: night, day, weekend, …), teams on duty and monitored equipments. All these parameters can be very easily changed.
The alert can be transferred to several people and in succession in case of no answer.

Can the alarm transfer be set independently for each channel?
Yes

What happens if nobody picks up the phone and if it reaches an answering machine?
The call will be considered as not transferred because the software asks for an acknowledgement on receipt by pressing a key on the keypad.

Is it possible to transfer the alarms through an IP modem?
Yes, the system uses Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) to transfer the alarm so you don't need to own specific equipment.

Questions on computer

What happens if the computer is down ?
2 solutions :
- Activation of a contact closure
- Detection of the problem by the Alert Manager software which is installed on another computer.

Is there an automatic backup?
Yes, every day.

How does the backup work?
It is an automatic copy of the data which is transferred to a file or to another computer.

Is it recommended to backup on an external device?
No, as it is an expensive solution and not a very secure.

Must it be a dedicated computer ?
Recommended, but not an obligation, depending on the application software already working on the computer.

What is the configuration of the computer?
The most recent version of software for small installation. For big installation we have a recommendation sheet depending on the size of the installation and the number of simultaneous connections.

Questions on upgrade of existing installations

Is eviSENSE compatible with former transmitters provided by AES, and with Tomprobe and Tomkey data loggers?
Yes, changing your hardware is not necessary to install eviSENSE

Is it possible to make an extension of the installation ?
Yes, with the hardware's autodetection you can extend the installation by yourself

Can we upgrade the software with optional software modules afterwards?
Yes, eviSENSE evolves with your needs. You can add new modules in a few clicks

Questions on the software

For how long can the system record the data?
Indefinitely

Is the data accessible from anywhere?
Yes

Is it possible to trace the power failure and see it on a graph?
Yes by using a contact closure input transmitter together with a special device.

Is there a user right management?
Yes
